We want to express our happiness and pride to the women of El Quetzalito, who this weekend won the 3rd and 2nd place in the Gastronomic Izabal contest. They had days of arduous training, more than 24 hours in a row of intense work in the preparation of the dishes, sleeplessness, sweat and stress… but in the end they succeeded! They won with the preparation of two lion fish recipes. The reward of their effort is great and now they are the vivid example that there are no limits for who sets a goal and works to reach it.

We are very grateful to Chef Titi, who with much affection dedicated time to this community. There is nothing better than finding selfless people who provide their work and time to make this world a better place.

Very happy and grateful for the opportunity to join 20 countries and 171 organizations in the “Biodiversity Week of Ibero-America”. On April 15^th we celebrated this day with the event “Noches de Luna” at the La Aurora Zoo. Our volunteers from roots and shoots Guatemala were supporting the “Shark Nights”.

On April 5 and 6, the first environmental education classes of the Rufford project were taught in the schools of El Quetzalito, Puerto Barrios and Creek Chino, Livingston. The theme was: Mangroves.

The lionfish is an invasive species in the Caribbean reefs. It has spread as a pest at the regional level and affects our marine resources. This week took place 4 dives and 87 organisms were obtained!
